Backfold Card

Backfold Card

An Easy and Quick Fun Fold!

This is another easy fun fold, called the Backfold.  It’s easy because it takes less than a half sheet of cardstock and a couple of scraps of pretty paper, die cuts, or punched images and you have a beautiful card.  It comes together super quickly, as you’ll see in my video.

Here is a cutting diagram (not to scale):

If you decorate the front with Designer Series Paper (DSP), you’ll need a piece that is 3” x 5 ¼” and one that is 7/8” x 5 ¼”.  The rest of the design is totally up to you.  I’ve listed the products used with each of my sample pictures below, but really you could simply use a sentiment and a shaped label (or layered shapes, like the circles on the cow card) and you wouldn’t even need to add any other die -cuts.

Alternately, you could just use cardstock and stamp on the cardstock instead of using DSP for your décor.  For example, use a floral stamp or some leaf sprigs and just stamp them on the front panel, add your sentiment on a shaped die cut/punch for your backfold mechanism and you’re done!

There are so many options with this using WHATEVER supplies you have.  If you are anything like me (and most papercrafters), you’ve got ephemera (die cuts) leftover from kits or sets you’ve purchased.  Just pull out some of those and add them to your base – D.O.N.E.  I’m thinking about some tropical flowers I bought for a scrapbook layout, where I used 2 of the 3 colors.  Now I have 3 flowers left… perfect for one of these cards!

Below are pictures of my samples, along with links to the supplies used.  Additional supplies I used are linked at the bottom.

Don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel – SewCraftyNana – for this video where I talk through each of the sample cards, PLUS two additional cards made from the January 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit!

Happy crafting!
